Some Irish Setters need to be re-homed from rescues from time to time. If you have made up your mind to buy an Irish Setter, consider a possibility of adoption first. Irish Setters are not plentiful.

Irish Setters - Differentiating between Setters
There are two more breeds of Setters: the English Setter and the Gordon Setter. In many ways, these breeds are similar to the Irish Setter. Gordon Setters tend to be more alert, while English Setters are described in their standard as "gentle."
As far as the appearance is concerned, refined Irish Setters are rather tall, while English Setters are the smallest and Gordon Setters are the heaviest of all the three types of Setters.
